The University of Wisconsin-Madison is accepting applications for an Outreach Specialist position at the Data Science Institute (DSI) to support the Open Source Program Office (OSPO). Hosted within UW-Madison’s Data Science Institute (DSI) and collaborating with Madison College, the Data Science Hub, and the UW-Madison Libraries, the OSPO will grow a culture of open research and provide support for open practices both on the UW-Madison campus and within the Madison area. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the OSPO and lay the groundwork for a unique campus organization that directly benefits society.
This position will report directly to the OSPO Manager. This role will help ensure the success of the OSPO through a variety of tasks and responsibilities such as: timeline tracking to meet project milestones, meeting agenda and content preparation, travel arrangements, event planning, and working closely with internal and external stakeholders involved in the project.
The successful candidate will deliver and assist with planning outreach program activities, strengthen partnerships, ensure adherence to policy, and assist with program administration to promote stable and productive relationships between the university and local community. They will strive to expand and ensure access to programs, facilities, and educational services to diverse audiences.
The OSPO is a new and growing endeavor in the DSI and at UW-Madison! This position is critical to the support and success of the office as we implement policies, hold events, and smoothly transition through day-to-day operations.
