The prompt-response format has played a formative role in our understanding of generative AI. Gillespie will present a history of technologies that use this format, and he will explore media scholarship for insights into normalizing anthropomorphized chat.

La Vaporera: Science, Salsa, & Spanish

This year’s La Vaporera will explore What We Don’t See: the invisible worlds — mathematical structures, bacteria, atmospheric turbulence, cultural narratives — that shape everything we are. This event is part of the Wisconsin Science Festival and Hispanic Heritage Month.
